Welcome Lance Bennett!
The Fairlane family would like to welcome Lance Bennett as our minister, beginning March 25, 2018. Lance has been the minister at the Riverside Church of Christ Lafayette, La for the past 11 years. Please pray for this congregation as they say goodbye to their minister and his family. We are so grateful to Ed and Elaine for their years of service and are especially glad that they will remain as part of our Fairlane family. Ed has been wanting to retire and enjoy life while he and Elaine are still able to travel and do things together or just do NOTHING!! Keeping all of this in mind, please pray for a smooth transition for everyone and that Lance and Misty’s house will sell quickly. We want to thanks our Fairlane family for your patience as we move forward into year 2018.
Shining Stars Event
It is that time of year again for planning the Shining Stars Event. It will be held 6:00 pm Tuesday night May 1st at Grace Valley farm. Due to an overwhelming response we need a larger facility this year. The Fairlane family has always been very supportive of this project. We continue to ask that Sunday school classes donate baskets for the silent auction, members can purchase tickets to the event and / or donate money as a sponsor.. Last year they raised over $11,000 for special needs kids. The money was used here in Bedford County to purchase a communication device for a child who doesn’t speak, paid for several months of therapies for another child who did not have insurance coverage and they purchased hearing aids for a hearing impaired child. Please see Mary Alice Shavers, Maddie Crosslin or Anna Parsons if you wish to donate to this event.
Everyone is invited to our Lunch Bunch on February 22, 2018 at 11:30 am at The Coffee Break on the square. On the menu will be Poppy seed Chicken, Wild Rice, Haircut Green Beans and Dinner Roll and for our dessert is Cranberry Bread Pudding and drinks. The cost is $15.95 per person. If you would like to join us, please be sure to put your name on the list at the back foyer. If you have any questions please see Anna Wilhoite or Dianne Clay.
We have received a donation as a memorial gift to Mrs. Edwina Steelman. This donation came from Mr. and Mrs. James Sudberry and Mr. and Mrs. James Brown. On behalf of the Steelman’s family the donation will go toward our Food Pantry and our Youth Fund. As always Fairlane Church appreciates your kindness and generous donation in remembrance of our loved ones.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude for the prayers and cards for my mother Connelle Peace, who had a minor stroke on Christmas Day. She is progressing ahead of schedule with her physical therapy and doing well. She still has some minor hurdles ahead, so please continue to pray for her progress. We are very thankful to the Fairlane family for your support. All glory be to our loving and merciful GOD!
