It’s difficult to be a Christian man in today’s world. It seems like forces gather every day to fight against those men who seek to honor and glorify God through the way they live their lives. The desire to succeed is great and there are always corners waiting to be cut and compromises waiting to be made. Sexual images are readily available, and this temptation is enticing for many men. The challenge to balance work and family is daunting as more men want to be available to their families but also want to succeed at work. These goals often compete against each other. All of these elements can lead to frustration which fuels the anger with which many men wrestle. It seems like many Christian men are constantly facing an uphill battle.
It’s times like these that Christian men need to realize that they are not alone. The Spirit of God lives within and will guide them if they follow its prompting and guidance. Other Christian men who face these same pressures and temptations are willing to walk alongside them and form a community of men striving to be what God called them to be. The voice that whispers that Christian men are alone is a voice of lies. Christian men are never alone if they open their eyes to what surrounds them.
At Fairlane, we realize the battle that our men are facing. We realize that it can feel lonely at times and it truly feels that we are fighting uphill. It’s tiring, frustrating and, at times, we feel like we are regressing instead of progressing. That’s why we provide opportunities for our men to gather together for community, prayer and moments to share God’s word and our stories together.
Beginning, May 1 st , we will be discussing relevant topics that Christian men are interested in at our monthly Men’s Breakfast in the fellowship hall. On the 1 st , we will be discussing the identity we hold as Christian men and what that identity and life should look like. In the months ahead, we will be discussing living a balanced life, spiritual growth, marriage, fatherhood, friendships, work life, temptations, the culture in which we live and how we can share our faith with other men. Each month will strengthen our men and their walk with Christ and their family and friends.
Beginning, May 6 th , we will offer a Bible Study called “Stepping Up” that will encourage us to “step up” into the lives that God is calling our men to live. Each Thursday evening at 6:30 in the Inglesia wing, we will meet for discussion, prayer and fellowship with our brothers in Christ.
These opportunities will be in addition to other opportunities for fellowship and community that will be offered in the coming months. All of the opportunities are available to Fairlane men and their friends in this community. We want men all over Bedford County to experience the blessing of growing closer to God and other Christian men.
Men face an uphill battle, but it’s a battle that’s already been won by Christ. Join us as we allow Jesus to lead us into battle and experience the victory and blessing only He can offer.
