The new school year begins next Monday, August 3rd in Bedford County. I don’t remember a school year that is being approached with such fear, anxiety, uneasiness and stress. The pandemic we are currently facing, and its many effects have raised several important issues and questions that will be addressed and answered as this school year begins. Parents, students, teachers, administrators, school staff, bus drivers and other positions related to our schools are wondering what this school year will hold from them and how it will unfold.
This school year promises to be challenging. Yet, God does His greatest work in the midst of challenges. He led Israel out of Egypt by parting the Red Sea. He empowered Israel to drive ungodly civilizations from Canaan. He was with Israel as they rebuilt Jerusalem and the temple after its destruction. Through Christ, He spread a message of love, grace and redemption that was counter to the teachings and example of the Jewish leaders and Roman authorities. He conquered death through the resurrection of Christ and through the Spirit grew and multiplied the first century church.
God does His best work in the greatest of challenges.
As this school year begins, I am confident that God is going to do a great work in our schools this year. He is going to work through teachers, students, staff, bus drivers, and other school personnel to grow His Kingdom and spread love, grace, compassion and healing. I am trusting that God is going to provide blessings upon blessings in the challenges our schools are facing as this year begins. He is faithful and He is with us.
As this school year begins, we are going to lift our prayers to God and ask Him to continue to do His great works in the midst of this challenge. On Sunday, August 2nd , at 5p.m., the Fairlane family will be present at each school in Bedford County. At each of the fifteen school locations, Fairlane members will gather to pray prayers of blessing for the school. We are asking our Fairlane family members and other citizens of our community to join us at the school of their choice. You may go to the school of your choosing at 5p.m. on August 2nd to join in a prayer of blessing for that school. Together, we will have a presence on each school campus as we pray together for the upcoming school year.
We will also begin a season of prayer focused upon our schools on August 1st . Please check your email next week for a prayer guide that will direct our prayers for each day in August as we pray together for our schools.
This school year has challenges, but God is greater than these challenges. Join us as we pray for our schools and the upcoming school year. God hears and responds to every prayer. God is listening and He will respond for His glory.
We face challenges but don’t ever forget. God does His best work in the midst of the greatest of challenges.
