Parent Meetings — Our next 2 parents meetings will be help on September 8th and December 8th.
Wednesday Night Bible Class — We will continue utilizing the “I Am Second” video ministry resource through September. These videos talk about real life issues and struggles like: abuse, meaning, self-esteem, prison, identity, marriage, pride, success, prostitution, drugs, death, fatherlessness, forgiveness, anger, substance abuse, trauma, cancer, contentment, molestation, eating disorders, sex, addiction, divorce, abortion, child abuse, violence, racism, purpose, grief, and more. We watch the videos, host a discussion, and look at what the Bible has to say about related matters.
Sunday Morning Bible Class — Starting in September, we will go back to studying through the “Immerse in His Word” curriculum with our students. This curriculum is designed by 21st Century Christian. The classes that will be offered will be Middle School (6th-8th) and High School (9th-12th).
Fall Retreat — Our Fall Retreat weekend will be at Taylor Christian Camp on November 8-10, 2019. This is a wonderful event in which students deepen their faith through taking time to be alone with God, worship, group discussion and fellowship. We do everything, from start to finish, including occasionally bringing in a guest speaker to pour into our students as we dive into the truths of Scripture together. Being together is a powerful thing. This year we will be combining with Chris Bobo and the Youth Group from Southside Church of Christ for our weekend together. So watch for registration information and go ahead and tell your friends to save these dates in their phones and on their family calendars. The cost for this event will be $35 dollars if paid by the deadline (sometime in October) and $50 if paid afterward. We will get more information to you in the upcoming months.
Christmas Event — This year’s event will be held on Saturday, December 14th. If you were able to attend last year’s event, you know how much fun can be had. We are planning an even more fun version of the event this year. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this and neither will your friends! There is no cost for this event, however it is suggested that you bring $5 to the event to use for a good deed.
Service Projects — We realize that our “service project” category has been lacking and we hope to include even more in our upcoming calendar. For now, here are few things we hope to do — In August of 2019, we will be sending cards to our county Administrators as the new school year gets under way. In November of 2019, we will be doing the “Packages of Promise” and “Coat Drive” again for those in need in our community and who visit our food pantry. In May of 2020, we will also be doing the “Shining Stars Basket” again for their auction event. Also, throughout the year we will be sending “Birthday Cards” to various children in Mexico at the City of Children.
