Join Me In Welcoming
I want you all join me in welcoming Macy Simon and Lane Plant to the family of God. Lane was baptized by his grandfather, Garland Morris, on July 30th. Macy was baptized by her grandfather, John T. Bobo, on August 2nd. We are so proud of you both! One of the greatest blessings of Youth Ministry, is getting to walk alongside students as they grow. What took place in the lives of these students last week is one of the greatest parts of that. As always, thank you for letting me be a part of the journey with you!
New Wednesday Night Series
On August 5, the FYM started a new series called “Eyewitness Bible Study: Paul’s Letters.” This resource has been made available to us through RightNow Media. This resource has taken the writings of Paul and tried to put them in the most logical chronological order possible, realizing that they aren’t assembled in our Bibles that way.
We will spend the next 17 weeks going through the 13 writings of Paul to the churches and individuals of his day. Each week there will be an “eyewitness” account that we will watch as we approach the Scriptures. These accounts are told from individual perspectives that were around during the writing of these letters, like Timothy, Titus, Silas, and so on. We will use these accounts to inform our reading of each letter and use the provided study guide to help us go deeper. We will also have discussion questions and application questions that will be used to help us process. Some questions will be addressed in class while others will be left up to families at home to discuss.
More about The Paul’s Letters Series: It is composed of narrative accounts by Bible personalities about the letters of Paul found in the New Testament, such as Aquila and Priscillas talking about First Corinthians. Together, the videos and study guides provide a good overview of the letters of Paul. By placing the letters in the approximate order in which they were written, this Series provides special insights.
I am excited about the opportunity that this will provide us to study in a little bit different way, pulling in various learning styles. We will also be able to offer viewing and studying options virtually for those who aren’t able to attend certain weeks.
