Mark your Calendar!!! Your family is invited to join the Fairlane Youth Ministry for Winter Jam 2019.
Join us for Winter Jam 2019 on March 8 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. There is no ticket required to get into the event, although they do ask each participant to make a donation of $15 at the door.
Winter Jam has become Christian Music’s largest annual tour. It is featured in nearly 50 cities across the United States, 3 of which are in Tennessee: Knoxville, Nashville, & Chattanooga. Winter Jam gives you nearly 4 hours worth of Christian Artist concerts, IN ONE NIGHT. The list of Christian artists this year includes: Newsboys United, Danny Gokey, Mandisa, Rend Collective, Ledger, NewSong, HollyN, and more. Also special guests and speakers include: Adam Agee, Greg Stier, Zane Black and more. Please contact Youth Minister, Michael Rector for more details or if you are interested in attending.
More About Winter Jam: Since its formation by NewSong in 1995, The Winter Jam Tour Spectacular has featured many of the top names in Christian music, including TobyMac, Skillet, Hillsong United, Lecrae, Lauren Daigle, Newsboys and more! The tour has also been a launching pad for great artists such as for King & Country, Francesca Battistelli, and Sidewalk Prophets. Winter Jam is an incredible evening of live concerts by the top artists in Christian music, plus worship and ministry, to encourage believers and share the good news with those who have yet to trust Christ. When NewSong began Winter Jam, it was based on the idea of removing cost barriers, so more people could attend, be encouraged by the music, and hear the gospel. Years later, those are still the foundations of Winter Jam. When you attend a Winter Jam event, you can count on ministry being the main focus. From a single concert in Greenville to the largest annual tour in the world, God has continued to bless Winter Jam, so we are excited to continue to be a part of what He is doing and look forward to what He is going to do in the future!
Mark your Calendar!!! Graduation Sunday for our Seniors will be on May 5, 2019.
On Sunday, May 5, we will celebrate with the families and friends of our graduating Seniors. We will have a special worship service and message that day, along with a meal and presentation in the Fellowship Hall. We ask all parents of Seniors to submit 50-150 photos for their student’s presentation no later than Sunday, April 28, but we can work with you if that can’t happen. Photos need to be turned in on a CD, USB stick, or shared through an online storage platform like Prime Photo, Google Drive, Drop Box, etc. Please let Michael know if you need any help with this. We will put these together and watch them together that day as we celebrate and remember some of their greatest memories together. Also, remember that your Senior will have a table and area in the Fellowship Hall that can be decorated by way of honoring them. This gives many people an opportunity to set a gift for them out and come by and speak to them and give them words of wisdom, encouragement, and love. You should be able to get in to decorate their space on the Saturday before, possibly even Friday. We look forward to this day together.
Mark your Calendar!!! All FYM students are invited to Fall Retreat 2019 at Taylor Christian Camp!
Our Fall Retreat weekend will be November 8-10, 2019. FYI…Friday the 8th there is NO SCHOOL.
Fall Retreat is a wonderful event in which students deepen their faith through taking time to be alone with God, worship, group discussion and fellowship. We do everything, from start to finish, including bringing in a guest speaker to pour into our students as we dive into the truths of Scripture together. Being together is a powerful thing. Being together doesn’t mean you see everything in the same way. It just means you are moving in the same direction as people who are going through similar things as you. It means that the people you wouldn’t imagine knowing God—start to know God. Our world is in need something like this. Now that school, sports, and busy schedules have started, Fall Retreat is the perfect time in the year to get away and refocus. Plus, we are going to have an absolute blast! Trust me, you won’t want to miss it! More information will be published in the coming months.
More About Taylor Christian Camp in Holland, Kentucky: Simpson County Youth Camp had been in operation since the 1950’s at various locations. In August, 1979, the Franklin Church of Christ, along with other supporting churches approved a land sales contract to purchase 147 acres on Booker Road in Holland, Allen County, KY to establish a camping facility. The camp’s full name is “Herman W. Taylor Camp,” and was named for one of Franklin’s former elders. Taylor was very instrumental in creating the interest and importance of camps to young people. The first camping season at Taylor was in 1986. A board was formed, called C.R.E.W. (Christian Recreational Educational Workers). The board is made up of members of supporting congregations. From retreats, to reunions, to weddings, Taylor Christian Camp offers a getaway that we all desire. Taylor provides peace, solitude, and most importantly the opportunity to fellowship with our Creator in the element that He created, nature. Whether you wish to experience the Fall colors, or Winter’s white beauty, or Spring’s awakening, we are open year-round for you to be a part of the changing seasons. The camp is for the exclusive use of members of the churches of Christ.
