New Wednesday night series.
On February 6 we will start a new series in our FYM class entitled: “The Jesus Studies: Jesus and Stuff.” Our culture puts a tremendous value on having stuff. And not just on having stuff, but being emotionally attached to our stuff. This message is played out in so many different aspects of our lives. We’re told a certain car will make us happy. A certain brand will make us cool. A certain gadget will make us fulfilled. And so many of us buy into these messages wholeheartedly. Especially our teenagers. Good thing Jesus had a lot to say about this.
Over the next four weeks, our teenagers will learn so much of what Jesus had to say about our stuff. They’ll learn that it’s impossible to both love their stuff and truly love God; that if their love for their stuff comes between their devotion to God, they’re doing it all wrong; that no matter how much stuff they have, it doesn’t add any real meaning to their life; and that they have to learn to see their stuff as God’s to be used as He sees fit.
Promote the Fairlane Youth Ministry.
The Fairlane Youth Ministry is excited to announce that we have ordered some FYM long sleeved t-shirts and drawstring bags to help promote our youth ministry in the community. The shirts are being made through 580 designs here in town and the bags are being made by DiscountMugs, an online promotional company. The shirts are a Seafoam green with white font and the bags are a dark gray with white font.
Anyone attending CYC in February with us this year will receive one of these shirts. If that person wishes to make a $10 donation, or more, to the church for their shirt, we will give that individual a drawstring bag as a way to say thank you for their donation. If you are not attending CYC with us and you would like to purchase a shirt or bag, the cost is $15.00 per shirt and $8.00 per bag. As long as we meet the minimum quantity order for either item, which is 25, we can order more. And as always, if you aren’t interested in acquiring either one of these items for yourself but would like to make a donation, we would gladly accept that and greatly appreciate it.
