Remember to mark your calendar for Fall Retreat 2019 at Taylor Christian Camp!
Our Fall Retreat weekend will be November 8-10, 2019. Remember…Friday the 8th there is NO SCHOOL!
Fall Retreat is a wonderful event in which students deepen their faith through taking time to be alone with God, worship, group discussion and fellowship. We do everything, from start to finish, including occasionally bringing in a guest speaker to pour into our students as we dive into the truths of Scripture together. Being together is a powerful thing.
Being together doesn’t mean you see everything in the same way. It just means you are moving in the same direction as people who are going through similar things as you. It means that the people you wouldn’t imagine knowing God—start to know God. Our world is in need of something like this. Now that school, sports, and busy schedules have started, Fall Retreat is the perfect time in the year to get away and refocus. Plus, we are going to have an absolute blast!
Trust me, you won’t want to miss it! This year we will be combining with Chris Bobo and the Youth Group from Southside Church of Christ for our weekend together. So watch for registration information and go ahead and tell your friends to save these dates in their phones and on their family calendars. We will get more information to you in the upcoming months.
Never heard of Taylor Christian Camp? Here is a little more about the Camp in Holland, Kentucky. Simpson County Youth Camp had been in operation since the 1950’s at various locations. In August, 1979, the Franklin Church of Christ, along with other supporting churches approved a land sales contract to purchase 147 acres on Booker Road in Holland, Allen County, KY to establish a camping facility. The camp’s full name is “Herman W. Taylor Camp,” and was named for one of Franklin’s former elders. Taylor was very instrumental in creating the interest and importance of camps to young people. The first camping season at Taylor was in 1986. A board was formed, called C.R.E.W. (Christian Recreational Educational Workers). The board is made up of members of supporting congregations. From retreats, to reunions, to weddings, Taylor Christian Camp offers a getaway that we all desire. Taylor provides peace, solitude, and most importantly the opportunity to fellowship with our Creator in the element that He created, nature. Whether you wish to experience the Fall colors, or Winter’s white beauty, or Spring’s awakening, we are open year-round for you to be a part of the changing seasons. The camp is for the exclusive use of members of the churches of Christ.
