Sunday Mornings with the Fairlane Youth Ministry
We currently offer a Middle School class made up of 6th-8th grade students. This class meets in the Fellowship Hall and is taught by Cas Huff and Jeff Floyd. We also offer a High School class made up of 9th-12th grade students. This class meets in the Annex Building and is taught by Michael Rector and Charlie Pope.
For the Fall Quarter, both classes are studying through the Immerse in His Word curriculum from 21st Century Christian. The first 5 lessons of the quarter take our High School class through a study on “Galatians” and our Middle School class through a study on “James.” The next 5 lessons take both groups through a study on “Satan, Angels, and Demons.” The quarter ends with a 3 week study for both groups on “Contentment.” We hope that this quarter is beneficial to our students and their families and we look forward to the opportunity to continue to grow in our knowledge together.
For the next several weeks, we will be studying through the importance of sharing our hope and testimony with those around us. Whether they are friends, family, acquaintances or even enemies, everyone needs to know Jesus and the power of His salvation. When it comes to telling our story, sometimes we get overwhelmed with where to start and how to begin. As a result, we often say and do nothing. Instead, we want to develop a place to start and trust God to take it from there.
So we are going to be working on something that we were introduced to at Uplift this summer, and that is developing our “Elevator Talk.” When you ride an elevator, it is usually a short experience unless something has gone horribly wrong or you are in a huge building. But even then, it’s relatively short. The talk we want to develop is the same in nature. It gives someone, in 5 minutes or less, the basics of who we are, what we believe, and why. Then it is in God’s hands as to whether that person will be led to ask more about our story or leave it at face value for now. But if we are to be telling people about Jesus and the hope that we have in Him, we have to actually share something. That’s what we want to focus on and do. Then we will flesh it out more with an actual “Testimony” or “Story.” That will be where we add more meat to it and really dig deep with this person, but on their time and in God’s way.

Bring Your Bible To School Day on October 3rd
Isn’t it awesome to know you’re not alone in sharing and reading God’s Word on Bring Your Bible to School Day? You will be joined by hundreds of thousands of students—and their families—who are celebrating freedom and faith on this day. Even if you are just one person in your school—it’s so encouraging to know that God’s love is strengthening you, nationwide prayers are going with you and more than half a million others are doing the same thing at their schools. Register your student online at bringyourbible.org. If you do register your student, please let me know through the Office because I’d like to make a phone call to each school Administrator first to make sure they understand what is being done and why.
