Has it been a year already?
It’s hard to believe that last weekend marked the completion of our first year in ministry with the Fairlane Family. It’s actually kind of hard to believe. On the one hand, we feel like we have known so many of you for years, that it makes it feel like we have been here much longer than a year. But on the other hand, it doesn’t feel like a years’ time has passed us by already. Funny how life goes.
We have been blessed in so many ways by our time here so far. It was really tough on our family leaving our church home and physical home in Kingston. But our faith and trust in God led us to come and so many of you have stepped up to the call. You’ve welcomed us with open arms and taken the time to get to know us. You’ve welcomed us into your homes and lives with all of the happenings that go on from day-to-day and week-to-week. You’ve checked up on us from time to time to see how things are going, how we are feeling, and most importantly how John Michael is doing. It really has been a blessing and we can’t wait to see what other blessings are in store for us here with this family.
This year had many firsts for us. Moving with a small child, which is like it’s own separate adventure. Moving twice within a few months time, from Kingston to a rental home here and then to the family home we have now. Starting John Michael in daycare at Bright Beginnings, which was and still is a God thing. Taking in our first CYC and Lads to Leaders events. Going to the City of Children as a church leader, and not a senior in High School. Hosting a lock-in with almost as many visitor participants as member participants. Taking a Back to School trip to St. Louis with several students who had never been to an amusement park, city zoo, or professional baseball game and see the pure joy on their faces. It’s been a great year to say the least!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for choosing us, welcoming us, loving us, and encouraging us. We look forward to many more years of service here with you in the Shelbyville community.
Youth Parent Meeting today.
Our quarterly parent meeting is today, immediately after Bible class in the Fellowship Hall. We will meet together and chart a course for the remainder of the Fall Quarter, as well as share in a potluck meal together. Come and join us and help us dream a little as we look forward in the calendar for this ministry.
We’ve got several important things to go over, including but not limited to:
- An opportunity to sponsor a child as a Youth Ministry at the City of Children in Ensenada, Mexico.
- Details for our upcoming Fall Retreat in November.
- A sneak peek of our Christmas Event in December.
- Scheduling work days in the Annex building, as the Youth transition to using it full-time.
- A quick glance at Challenge Youth Conference 2020.
- Calendars for the Fall Quarter (Sept-Nov).
- A snapshot from Sunday morning Bible class and Wednesday night class.
- Student spotlights coming in January.
