Matthew 25:10-13 tells us, “10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” As we continue studying parables we looked at this one Wednesday night for the purpose of explaining to the youth about how to be spiritually prepared. We began by asking them what they did to prepare for a power failure and some said “have a flashlight”, “check batteries”, “know where the matches are”, etc. They all understood the concept of being ready for the power to go out and how to deal with the darkness. We then went through this parable and talked about how wise five of the virgins were and how foolish the other five were. A question I would ask all of us is, “what five virgins do we most connect with?” The five that had extra oil and were prepared for the bridegroom to return or the five who weren’t and ended up being shut out of the banquet hall? This is not to scare anyone to the cross but it is meant to serve as a reminder that all of us should be ready for Christs’ return so we can insure not to be “locked out” of our heavenly reward!
PLEASE consider helping with our Wednesday night meals. We have a growing group of youth and adults that are attending and fellowshipping and we want everyone who can and will be a part! PUMP begins with fellowship at 5:30, a meal at 6:00 and continued fellowship up until worship at 7:00.
